Research on VHF system design for river navigation in mountainous canyons
Very High Frequency(VHF)is currently an internationally recognized communica-tion method for ship navigation, dispatch and command, and emergency rescue. In recent years,VHF has achieved good coverage and application effects in coastal areas.However,estab-lishing a VHF communication network in river channels within mountainous canyons has al-ways been a challenge for technical personnel. It is difficult to achieve efficient and stable cov-erage requirements solely based on conventional site selection, construction density, antenna height, coverage range, radio power configuration, antenna specification selection, and other technologies. Therefore,in order to solve the problem of networking river channels in moun-tainous canyons, this article proposes a design scheme that combines omnidirectional antenna, directional antenna, and ship borne antenna by analyzing the current problems and related influ-encing factors. This plan fully utilizes the resources of high-level communication base stations and channel working ships of operators along the route, effectively improving the VHF cover-age and communication quality of river channels in mountainous canyons, and ensuring the safety of ship navigation.
