With the increasing overcrowding of cafeterias during peak dining hours in universi-ties,in order to alleviate congestion and reduce the generation of disposable waste such as takeout boxes,a robot with independent path planning capabilities has been developed to provide food sales services.Based on the ROS robot operating system,a layered hardware architecture and software framework are designed to sense the surrounding environment through laser radar and depth camera scanning, build maps, navigate autonomously, and use infrared sensors, voice recog-nition,and broadcast modules for human-computer interaction. The use of food robots com-bined with mobile apps can provide integrated ordering and payment services near teaching buildings and dormitories, effectively shortening the distance between consumers and the cafete-ria.Compared to takeout,it is more green and environmentally friendly, improving efficiency, realizing the new concept of smart catering, and optimizing the service experience of catering consumption.
