Probe Selection for Physical Layer Conformance Testing of 100M Ethernet
This paper investigates the impact of different differential probes,namely Tektronix P6247 and TDP3500,on signal amplitude measurement in order to assess the consistency of 100 Mbit Ethernet physical layer.The study reveals that variations in probe bandwidths and imped-ance curves significantly affect the measured signals,leading to substantial differences in meas-urement results.Therefore,when selecting a suitable differential probe for conducting physical layer consistency tests on 100Mbit Ethernet,it is crucial to consider various indicators and choose an appropriate probe to ensure more accurate measurements in the amplitude domain.
