EFFECT OF DIFFERENT ALUMINA PARTICLE CONTENT ON SINTERING BEHAVIOR OF DRAINAGE SAND
In the process of pouring molten steel from ladle to tundish,it is necessary to fill the drainage sand into the ladle seat brick to isolate the sliding nozzle and the molten steel. The sintering behavior of drainage sand in the brick due to the high temperature of molten steel will affect the production and there are certain potential safety hazards, and there are few studies on the sintering behavior after adding alumina particles to conventional chromium drainage sand, and the mechanism of action is not clear. The sintering behavior of a small amount of alumina in conventional chrome drainage sand was studied.Quartz sand, alumina sand and chromite sand were configured with drainage sand in different proportions to make drainage sand flakes, and the sintering behavior test of drainage sand under the action of sintering alone and molten steel was carried out.The morphology and phase composition of drainage sand before and after sintering under different molten steel conditions were analyzed. The results show that the effect of alumina on the sintering behavior of conventional chromium drainage sand is almost the same in the process of molten steel and separate sintering of the drainage sand. The addition of a small amount of alumina(5%)to the drainage sand cannot inhibit the sintering and will deteriorate the sintering performance of the drainage sand, and the addition of 10%of alumina can inhibit the sintering.Conventional chrome drainage sand will produce a good use effect in the production of aluminum calming steel, and it is not recommended to add additional alumina particles in actual production. This study provides a reference for the study of the sintering behavior of drainage sand in actual production.
