THE INFLUENCE OF Ni ELEMENT ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF 42CrMoA STEEL FOR CRANKSHAFT
In order to improve the mechanical properties of 42CrMoA steel quenched and tempered for crankshafts and meet the requirements of steel for heavy-duty commercial vehicle engine crankshafts, alloying tests with 0.03%Ni,0.08%Ni,0.14%Ni,and 0.20%Ni contents were conducted.Comparative analysis of chemical composition, mechanical properties, and microstructure of 42CrMoA steel was conducted using ICAP6300 plasma spectrometer,Zeiss optical microscope, universal testing machine, and impact testing machine. The results showed that adding 0.14%to 0.20%Ni element to 42CrMoA steel caused the CCT curve of the experimental steel to shift to the right, the pearlite transformation incubation time to increase by 58 seconds, the critical pearlite transformation temperature to decrease by 3.17 ℃,and the pearlite proportion to increase by 6.14%.After oil quenching at 860 ℃ and tempering at 560 ℃,the tensile strength, yield strength and impact toughness at different temperatures of the experimental steel were significantly improved. The comprehensive mechanical properties of the steel were significantly improved, indicating that adding 0.14%to 0.20%Ni element can increase the strength of ferrite, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the steel and meeting the needs of customers.
