APPLICATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC TECHNOLOGY IN BLOOM CASTING OF SPECIAL STEEL
Molten steel electromagnetic induction heating and electromagnetic stirring of continuous casting billet are high efficiency and environmental protection electromagnetic metallurgy technologies.Continuous casting has become the most active field of electromagnetic technology application.This paper introduces the application of the two technologies in large section round and bloom continuous casting project of special steel,and summarizes and analyzes the rational structure form,process arrangement,combined application mode and effect of tundish induction heating,mold electromagnetic stirring,secondary cooling electromagnetic stirring and terminal electromagnetic stirring technologies.The practice has proved that the suitable electromagnetic technology has good metallurgical effect on the large bloom continuous casting of special steel.Among them,the electromagnetic induction heating technology can control the superheat of the molten steel in the tundish at 15±2 ℃,and realize the low superheat constant temperature casting process.The three-stage combined electromagnetic stirring technology is adopted in the continuous casting of large round billet,and the two-stage electromagnetic stirring technology and the soft reduction technology of solidified end are adopted in the continuous casting of large square billet.The high quality indexes such as central shrinkage hole ≤0.5,central porosity≤1.5 and central segregation ≤1.10 can be achieved.Using low superheat constant temperature casting and M-EMS+S-EMS+F-EMS(or SR)three-stage quality control process,the continuous casting speed can be increased by more than 50%.
