COMPARATIVE STUDY ON HIGH DIRECTIONAL HOT WORK MOLD STEEL LY2344 AND ASSAB8407 STEEL
LY2344 steel is a highly directional hot work die steel successfully developed by using advanced technologies such as off-furnace refining,protected atmosphere electroslag remelting,homogenization,multi-directional large deformation controlled forging,ultra-fine,etc.It can be used in high-end fields such as copper and aluminum alloy hot extrusion die,precision forging die and high pressure die casting die.Direct reading spectrometer,metallographic microscope,hardness tester,impact testing machine and scanning electron microscope were used to compare LY2344 steel and imported ASSAB8407 steel.The results show that LY2344 steel is slightly lower than imported steel in terms of metallurgical quality and non-metallic inclusions,mainly due to the high content of phosphorus,sulfur,oxygen and nitrogen impurities,and the high gade of Class B alumina and Class D single particle oxides.LY2344 steel,annealed structure and strip segregation have reached the optimal standard in NADCA#207-2016 spectrum,the transverse V-inlet impact energy is as high as 17.9 J,the transverse and longitudinal impact energy ratio is 0.94,and the key indicators such as organization grade and impact toughness are significantly better than the North American die Casting Association standard for high quality H13 steel.Comprehensively judging,LY2344 steel has basically reached the quality level of imported ASSAB8407 steel,and has broad application prospects and market promotion value.
