Clinical efficacy of total paeoniflorin capsules combined with methotrexate on rheumatoid arthritis
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of total paeoniflorin capsules combined with methotrexate on rheu-matoid arthritis(RA).Methods From September 2021 to September 2022,a total of 56 RA patients were randomly assigned into the treatment group(n =28)and the control group(n =28).All patients were managed by methotrexate,and those in the treatment group were additionally treated with total paeoniflorin capsules.Treated for 3 months,the aim was to compare clinical symptoms(duration of morning stiffness,articular pain,joint swelling and pain,grip strength),biochemical indicators(erythro-cyte sedimentation rate[ESR],rheumatoid factor[RF],C-reactive protein[CRP]),disease activity,disease remission rate,bone destruction.The curative effect was assessed.Results After treatment,significantly shorter duration of morning stiff-ness,decreased articular pain scores,decreased joint swelling and pain scores,increased grip strength were found in the two groups than those before treatment(all P＜0.05),improvement of which in the treatment group were significantly better(all P＜0.05).After treatment,ESR,RF and CRP in the both groups were significantly decreased(P＜0.05),which decreased notably in the treatment group compared with the control group(P＜0.05).The proportion of stable stage of illness in the treat-ment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(71.43%[20/28]vs 14.29%[4/28],[P＜0.05],respec-tively).The total remission rate of the disease was 92.85%(26/28)in the treatment group,significantly higher than that of 71.43%(20/28)in the control group(P＜0.05).The total detection rate of bone destruction in the treatment group was signif-icantly lower than that in the control group(7.14%[2/28]vs 39.28%[11/28],[P＜0.05],respectively).Conclusion For RA patients,total paeoniflorin capsules combined with metho-trexate has definite curative effect,which can effectively improve clinical symptoms,reduce inflammation,inhibit disease activity,promote disease remission and prevent bone destruction.
