Objective To observe the clinical effect of Yangyin Anshen Formula combined with estazolam tablets for elderly patients with insomnia of liver-kidney Yin deficiency.Methods A total of 60 elderly patients with insomnia(liver-kidney Yin deficiency)were randomly assigned into the treatment group(n =30)and the control group(n =30).All patients were managed by estazolam tablets,and those in the treatment group were additionally treated with Yangyin Anshen Formula.Treated for 4 weeks,the aim was to compare traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality In-dex(PSQI)score,and serum interleukin-6(IL-6).The curative effect was assessed.Results The overall effective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(90%[27/30]vs70%[21/30],[P＜0.05],respectively).Af-ter treatment,TCM symptom scores in the both groups were significantly decreased(P＜0.05),which decreased notably in the treatment group compared with the control group(P＜0.05).PSQI scores in the both groups were significantly decreased(P＜0.05),the reduction in the treatment group was more prevalent compared with the control group(P＜0.05).IL-6 levels in the both groups were significantly decreased(P＜0.05),the decrease in the treatment group was more common than the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion For elderly patients with insomnia(liver-kidney Yin deficiency),Yangyin Anshen Formula com-bined with estazolam tablets has a definite curative effect,which can effectively improve TCM symptoms and sleep quality,reduce IL-6 level,with safety and reliability.
