clinical efficacy of rational emotional therapy combined with traditional Chinese medicine emotional intervention in im-proving anxiety depression in patients with vascular dementia
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of rational emotional therapy combined with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)emotional intervention in improving anxiety depression in patients with vascular dementia(VD).Methods Eighty VD patients were randomly assigned into the observation group(n =40)and the control group(n =40).All patients were managed by routine intervention, and those in the observation group additionally received rational emotional therapy combined with TCM emotional intervention.A 4-week intervention was performed to compare Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE),Activities of Daily Living Scale(ADL),Quality of Life-Alzheimer's Disease Scale(QOL-AD),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),intervention satisfaction. Results After intervention,MMSE scores in the both groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),which increased notably in the observation group compared with the control group(P<0.05).Significantly decreased ADL scores, and increased QOL-AD scores were detected in the both groups(all P<0.05),and the observation group was superior to the control group for ADL and QOL-AD scores(all P<0.05).HAMD and HAMA scores in the both groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),which were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The overall satisfaction rate in the observation group was better than that in the con-trol group(P<0.05).Conclusion For VD patients, rational emotional therapy combined with TCM emotional intervention can effectively improve psychological state and cognitive function, improve ADL,quality of life and intervention satisfaction.
