Curative efficacy of Qilu Shengbai Formula combined with PEG-rhG-CSF on chemotherapy-associated neutropenia
Objective To explore the curative efficacy of Qilu Shengbai Formula combined with pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(PEG-rhG-CSF)on chemotherapy-associated neutropenia.Methods Ninety patients with chemotherapy-associated neutropenia visited our hospital were gathered and randomly assigned to control group(PEG-rhG-CSF,n =45)and treatment group(Qilu Shengbai Formula plus PEG-rhG-CSF,n =45).The curative effects were statistically analyzed after 3 cycles of chemotherapy.The changes in absolute neutrophil count(ANC),traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms scores(including short breath and no desire to speak,tiredness,palpitation and insomnia,sallow complexion,spontaneous sweating and dizziness),liver and kidney function indexes(including serum creatinine[SCr],blood urea nitrogen[BUN],aspartate aminotransferase[AST]and alanine aminotransferase[ALT])were included as comparators before treatment and after 1 and 3 cycles of chemotherapy between the two groups.The adverse reactions during treatment were asssessed in the two groups.Results The absolute value of 1-cycle and 3-cycle neutrophils in the two groups was significant-ly increased than that before treatment(P<0.05),and the absolute value of 3-cycle neutrophils in the two groups was significantly higher than that of 1-cycle(P<0.05).The abso-lute value of 1-cycle and 3-cycle neutrophils in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The 3-cycle dimension score and total score of TCM symptoms were significantly decreased in the two groups than those before treatment(P<0.05),and which were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).The 3-cycle levels of serum BUN,SCr,AST and ALT in the two groups were obviously decreased than those before treatment(P<0.05),and the decrease in the treatment group was more pronounced relative to the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the treatment group and the control group(17.78%[8/45]vs 11.11%[5/45],P>0.05).Conclusion Qilu Shengbai Formula combined with PEG-rhG-CSF has exact cura-tive for treating chemotherapy-associated neutropenia,it can effectively increase the level of granulocytes,improve TCM symp-toms,and ameliorate liver and kidney function,which is safe and effective.
