Clinical efficacy of Fuyang Guan warm massage along the meridians combined with Yishen Huoxue Decoction for lum-bar disc herniation
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Fuyang Guan warm massage along the meridians combined with Yishen Huoxue Decoction for lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods Totally 138 LDH patients treated in our hospital from September 2019 to May 2021 were randomly assigned into control group(n =69)and treatment group(n =69),in which they were treated with conventional massage and Fuyang Guan warm massage along the meridians combined with Yishen Huoxue De-coction,respectively.After 10-day treatment,the Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)and Visual Analog Scale(VAS)were used to assess pain symptoms.The inflammatory factors(interleukin 6[IL-6],tumor necrosis factor-alpha[TNF-α],IL-4)were compared.The curative effect and adverse reactions were assessed.Results After treatment,significantly in-creased JOA scores,and significantly decreased VAS scores were detected in the both groups(all P<0.05),and the treatment group was superior to the control group for JOA and VAS scores(all P<0.05).After treatment,significantly decreased IL-6 and TNF-α levels,and significantly increased IL-4 levels were detected in the both groups(all P<0.05),and the improve-ments were more pronounced in the treatment group than those of the control group(all P<0.05).The difference was not statistically significant in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the treatment group and the control group(4.3%[3/69]vs 7.2%[5/69],[P>0.05],respectively).Conclusion Fuyang Guan warm massage along the meridians combined with Yishen Huoxue Decoction has definite curative effect in LDH pa-tients,which can effectively improve pain symptoms,inhibit inflammatory response,and it is safe and reliable.
