Therapeutic effect of modified Qiwei Baizhu Powder on anorexia in children
Objective To analyze the therapeutic effect of modified Qiwei Baizhu Powder on anorexia in children.Methods A total of 54 children with anorexia were randomlyassigned to control group(n=27)or treatment group(n=27).All patients were treated with routine Western medicine(RWM),and those in the treatment group were treated with modified Qi-weiBaizhu Powder plus RWM.A 1-month treatment was performed in both groups.The aim was to compare traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom score,staple food intake,body mass index(BMI),and serum zinc concentration before and after treatment.The therapeutic effect,adverse reactions and 6-month recurrence were assessed between groups.Results After treatment,the scoresof main symptoms and secondary symptomswere significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05),and which in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,staple food intake,BMI and serum zinc concentration in the both groups were significantly increased than those before treatment(P<0.05),andthe increases were more pronounced in treatment group(P<0.05).After treatment,the therapeutic effectin the treatment group was better than that of the control group(P<0.05).No serious adverse reactions occurred in the two groups.The recurrence rate in the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Forthe children with anorexia,the combination of modifiedQiwei Baizhu Powder and RWM can effectively improve their symptoms,in-crease staple food intake and BMI,improve serum zinc concentration level,and reduce recurrence rate.It has a good safety.
