Objective To investigate the effect of Wuxian Formula on postoperative healing.Methods Totally 60 pa-tients with postoperative fracture nonunion were randomly assigned to treatment group(routine Western medicine[RWM],n=30)or control group(Wuxian Formula plus RWM,n=30).The swelling regression time,analgesic time,callus formation time,hospitalization time,fracture healing time,red cell aggregation(RCA),whole blood viscosity(WBV)(low,medium,and high shear),plasma viscosity(PV),red blood cell volume(RBV),36-item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36),Func-tional Independence Measure(FIM)were included as comparators.The curative effect was assessed.Results The overall ef-fective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(93.33%[28/30]vs 70.00%[21/30],[P<0.05],respectively).After treatment,the time to swelling regression,analgesic,callus formation,hospitalization,fracture healing were significantly shorter in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).RCA,WBV(low,medium,and high shear),PV,RBV in the both groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),which decreased notably in the treatment group compared with the control group(P<0.05).SF-36 scores(emotional function,physiological function,social function,vitality)and FIM scores in the both groups remarkably increased(P<0.05),the improvements in the treatment group were sig-nificantly better(P<0.05).Conclusion Wuxian Formula on postoperative healing has significant effects,which can effective-ly reduce swelling and relieve pain,promote callus growth,accelerate fracture healing,and improve hemorheological indicators and quality of life.
