Effects of external application of Sanjie Tounong Prescription combined with oral Xiaozhong Qingre Jiedu Decoction on generalized perianal abscess and its influence on wound healing time and anal function
Objective To observe the effects of external application of Sanjie Tounong Prescription combined with oral Xi-aozhong Qingre Jiedu Decoction on generalized perianal abscess and the influence on postoperative wound healing and anal function.Methods A total of 102 patients with generalized perianal abscess(toxic heat flourishing type)were randomly assigned to treat-ment group(n=51)or control group(n=51).All patients were managed by anti-infection and symptomatic treatment,and those in treatment group were additionally treated with external application of Sanjie Tounong Prescription combined with oral Xi-aozhong Qingre Jiedu Decoction.Treated for 4 weeks,the aim was to compare the wound healing(time to wound carrion shedding and wound healing,rate of wound retraction),scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms,visual analogue scale(VAS),Wexner fecal incontinence grading scale,inflammatory indexes(white blood cell count[WBC],C-reactive protein[CRP],interleukin-6[IL-6])between groups.The curative effect and adverse reactions were assessed.Results The overall effective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(90.20%[46/51]vs 74.51%[38/51],[P<0.05],respectively).After treatment,TCM symptom scores in the both groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),which decreased notably in the treatment group compared with the control group(P<0.05).The time to wound carrion shedding and wound healing shorter significantly in the treatment group than those of the control group,whereas the rate of wound retraction was significantly higher(all P<0.05).VAS score on weeks 2 in the both groups was significantly decreased(P<0.05),which was significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).Wexner fecal incontinence scale score in months 2 in the both groups was significantly decreased(P<0.05),the decrease was significant common in the treatment group(P<0.05).WBC,CRP,IL-6 on weeks 2 in the both groups decreased significantly(P<0.05),which in the treatment group were more prevalent(P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with generalized perianal abscess,external application of Sanjie Tounong Pre-scription combined with oral Xiaozhong Qingre Jiedu Decoction can improve postoperative efficacy,shorten healing time,reduce postoperative pain,alleviate inflammatory reaction,and protect patients'normal anal function.
