Effects of five-animal exercises combined with acupuncture at Jiaji(EX-B2)on cervical function and pain degree in patients with mixed cervical spondylosis
Objective To observe the effects of five-animal exercises combined with acupuncture at Jiaji(EX-B2)on cervical function and pain degree of patients with mixed cervical spondylosis(CS).Methods A total of 62 patients with mixed cervical spondylosis were randomly assigned to the control group(n=31)or the combined group(n=31),all patients were treated with acupuncture at Jiaji(EX-B2),and those in the combined group were additionally treated with five-animal exercises.A 2-week was performed in the both groups.Neck disabilitv index(NDI),cervical flexion/extension,left/right ro-tation range of motion, visual analogue scale(VAS),the36-Item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36)were evaluated before and after treatment in the two groups. Results After treatment, the levels of cervical flexion/extension,left/right rotation range of motion in the both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(P<0.05),the increases were more common in the combined group relative to the control group(P<0.05).The scores of NDI and VAS in the both groups were significantly decreased(all P<0.05),the decreases were more prevalent in combined group compared to the control group(all P<0.05).The dimension scores of SF-36 in the both groups were significantly elevated(P<0.05),and the improvment was more pro-nounced in the combined group compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of five-animal ex-ercises combined with acupuncture at Jiaji(EX-B2)in the treatment of patients with mixed cervical spondylosis can significant-ly relieve their cervical spine function and pain degree, improve the quality of life, and it has a definite clinical effect.
