Clinical efficacy of Qingwen Qudu capsule in adults with influenza of heat-toxin attacking lung syndrome and its influ-ence on inflammatory factors
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Qingwen Qudu capsule in adults with influenza of heat-toxin attacking lung syndrome and its influence on inflammatory factors.Methods Sixty adults with influenza(heat-toxin attacking lung syndrome)who were treated at Guangzhou TCM Clinic were randomly assigned into treatment group(n=30)and control group(n=30).All patients were managed by oseltamivir phosphate capsules,and those in treatment group were additionally treated with Qingwen Qudu capsule.Treated for 5 days,the aim was to compare disappearing time(fever,cough,sore throat,fatigue)and virus turning negative time,inflammation-related factors(interleukin-6[IL-6],IL-1β,tumor necrosis factor alpha[TNF-α],C-reactive protein[CRP]),and the symptom scores(cough,thirst,sore throat,red eyes,headache).The curative effect was assessed.Results The overall effective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(93.33%[28/30]vs 86.67%[26/30],P<0.05,respectively).The disappearing time(fever,cough,sore throat,fatigue)and the virus turning negative time were significantly shorter in the treatment group than those of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of IL-6,IL-1β,TNF-α,CRP were significantly decreased in both groups,but the symp-tom scores(cough,thirst,sore throat,red eyes,headache and the total scores)were significantly decreased(all P<0.05),the improvements were more pronounced in the treatment group relative to the control group(all P<0.05).The incidence of ad-verse reactions in the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(3.33%[1/30]vs 16.67%[5/30],P<0.05).Conclusion Qingwen Qudu capsule has a definite curative effect in adults with influenza(heat-toxin at-tacking lung syndrome),which can shorten the disappearing time(fever,sore throat,etc.)and the virus turning negative time,improve clinical symptoms scores,reduce the level of inflammation-related factors.
