Curative effect of midnight-noon ebb-flow acupoint selection five element music therapy combined with agomelatine on quality of life ofthe elderly with generalized anxiety disorder
Objective To observe the curative effect of midnight-noon ebb-flow acupoint selection five element music therapy combined with agomelatine on quality of life ofthe elderly patients with generalized anxiety disorder(GAD).Methods A total of 120 elderly patients with GAD were randomly assigned into treatment group(n=52,10 cases dropped off)and control group(n=49,9 cases dropped off).All patients were managed by agomelatine,and those in treatment group were additionally treated with midnight-noon ebb-flow acupoint selection five element music therapy.A 1-month treatment was performed to compare Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)scores,Clinical Global Impression Scale(CGI)scores,incidence of adverse reactions.The curative effect was assessed.Results The overall effective rate in the treat-ment group was better than that in the control group(94.23%[49/52]vs 79.59%[39/49],P<0.05).After treatment,HAMA and HAMD scores in the both groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),which decreased notably in the treatment group compared with the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,significantly lower severity of illness(SI)and global im-provement(GI)scores,and significantly higher efficacy index(EI)were found in treatment group than those of control group(all P<0.05).The overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups was comparable(P>0.05).Conclusion The midnight-noon ebb-flow acupoint selection five element music therapy combined with agomelatine has a significant effect in the elderly with GAD,which can effectively improve negative emotions,and without increasing adverse reactions.
