Effects of Chaizhu Liwei Drinking on brain gut axis function and gastrointestinal motility in functional dyspepsia rats
Objective The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of Chaizhu Liwei Drinking on brain gut axis function and gastrointestinal motility in rats with functional dyspepsia(FD).Methods Sixty male specific-pathogen free(SPF)-grade Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats were selected through the field experiment.The FD model of liver depression and spleen deficiency was established by Guo's tail clipping stimulation+chronic fatigue+eating disorder.After successful modeling,the rats were divided into model group,Chaizhu Liwei Drinking low,medium and high dose group and Domperidone group,with 10 rats in each group.Different treatment schemes were given for 21 days.After the experiment,the changes in food intake,sugar-water consumption,body mass(BM),gastric emptying rate and intestinal propulsion rate of FD rats were observed and calculated,and the levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),nitric oxide(NO)and nitric oxide synthase(NOS)in serum were measured.Finally,the histopathological changes in gastric antrum were observed by hematoxylin eosin staining(HE staining)between groups.Results Compared with those of the normal group,the food intake,BM and sugar-water consumption of rats in the model group before modeling were significantly lower(P<0.05).After treatment,compared with the model group,the BM,food intake,and sugar-water consumption of rats in Domperidone group and Chaizhu Liwei Drinking dose groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),which in Chaizhu Liwei Drinking high dose group were significantly higher than those in Chaizhu Liwei Drinking low dose group(P<0.05).Compared with the normal group,the gastric emptying rate and intestinal propulsion rate in the model group were significantly decreased(P<0.05).Com-pared with the model group,which in Domperidone group and Chaizhu Liwei Drinking dose groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),which in Chaizhu Liwei Drinking high-dose group were significantly higher than those of Chaizhu Liwei Drinking low-dose group(P<0.05).Compared with the normal group,NO and NOS in the model group were significantly increased(P<0.05),and 5-HT was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the model group,NO and NOS in Domperi-done group and Chaizhu Liwei Drinking dose groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),5-HT was significantly increased(P<0.05).The difference was significant in NO,NOS and 5-HT between Chaizhu Liwei Drinking high-dose group and Chaizhu Liwei Drinking low-dose group(P<0.05).Conclusion Chaizhu Liwei Drinking can significantly improve the anxie-ty,irritability,tension and other adverse mental states of rats,enhance the physique of rats,significantly increase or decrease the levels of brain gut peptide,5-HT,NO and NOS in rats,and finally significantly alleviate the symptoms of FD.
