Intervention effect of TCM acupoint sticking combined with music therapy on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients with cervical cancer
Objective To observe the intervention effect of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)acupoint sticking com-bined with music therapy on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients with cervical cancer(CC).Methods A total of 76 CC patients with chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting were randomly selected to receive either music therapy(control group,n=37)or TCM acupoint sticking plus music therapy(study group,n=39)for 4 courses(1 course for 21 days). The platelet count(PC),white blood cell(WBC)count, hemoglobin(Hb)level, the Index of Nausea,Vomiting and Retching(INVR),Quality of life(QOL),incidences of nausea and vomiting were included as comparisons before and after the intervention. The curative effect was assessed. Results The overall effective rate in the study group was better than that in the control group(92.31%[36/39]vs 72.97%[27/37],P<0.05).After the intervention,PC,WBC count,Hb level in the both groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),the decreases were more notably in the study group compared with the con-trol group(P<0.05).Moreover,INVR scores were significantly decreased in the both groups(P<0.05),but QOL scores were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the study group was superior to the control group for INVR and QOL scores(all P<0.05).None of the incidences of nausea and vomiting differed significantly between groups during the intervention(P>0.05).Whereas,which were significantly lower in the study group than in the control group at the end of the intervention(P<0.05).Conclusion TCM acupoint sticking combined with music therapy has significant clinical effects on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in CC patients, which can significantly im-prove the symptoms of nausea and vomiting, and the quality of life.
