Application of wrist-ankle acupuncture on intractable hiccup in liver malignant tumor with interventional therapy
Objective To analyze the effect of wrist-ankle acupuncture on intractable hiccup in liver malignant tumor with interventional therapy. Methods Ninety patients with intractable hiccup underwent interventional therapy for liver malig-nant tumor were enrolled, and they were randomly assigned in a1:1 ratio to either symptomatic Western medicine therapy(con-trol group)or wrist-ankle acupuncture plus symptomatic Western medicine therapy(treatment group)for 8 weeks. The clinical efficacy was assessed, and the scores of hiccup symptom, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom, and quality of life be-tween groups were compared. Results After treatment, the total effective rate in the treatment group was better than that of the control group(93.33%[42/45]vs77.78%[35/45],P<0.05).The scores of hiccup symptom in both groups on days 0 and 7 daysafter treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05),the decreases were more prevalent in the treatment group relative to the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of TCM symptoms in the both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05),which were more prevalent in the treatment group compared to the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of quality of life were significantly improved in the both groups than those before treatment(P<0.05),which in the treatment group were superior to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of wrist-ankle acupuncture has a significant curative effect in patients with intractable hiccup underwent intervention-al therapy for liver malignant tumor, which can not only improve the clinical effect and promote the improvement of hiccup symp-toms,but also reduce the TCM symptom score and the quality of life.
