Effect of Qigong exercise combined with traditional Chinese medicine foot bathon nerve conduction velocity and blood flow in patients with high risk diabetes foot
Objective To study the effect of Qigong exercise combined with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM,sup-plementing qi,nourishing blood and removing blood stasis)foot bath on nerve conduction velocity and blood flow in patients with high risk diabetes foot. Methods A total of 120 patients with high risk diabetes foot admitted to Cangzhou Hospital of Integrated TCM-WWM·HEBEI from April 2022 to April 2023 were randomly assigned in a 1∶1 ratio to either routine nursing intervention(control group)or Qigong exercise+TCM foot bath+routine nursing intervention(study group). The Toronto clinical scoring system(TCSS)score, nerve conduction velocity, blood flow of dorsalis pedis artery, plasma viscosity, platelet aggregation rate, and serum inflammatory factors(interleukin-6[IL-6]and tumor necrosis factor-α[TNF-α])were included as compara-tors between groups before and after intervention. Results After intervention, the scores of TCSS in the two groups were signifi-cantly lower than those before intervention(P<0.05),and which in the study group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The conduction velocity of tibial and peroneal nerve in the two groups were significantly increased after intervention(P<0.05),and the increases weremore commonin the study group compared to the control group(P<0.05).After intervention, significantly increased blood flow of the dorsalis pedis artery, and significantly decreased plasma viscosity and plate-let aggregation rate were observedin the two groups(all P<0.05),the improvements were more pronounced in the study group relative to the control group(all P<0.05).After intervention, the levels of serum IL-6 and TNF-α in the two groups were significantly decreased than those before intervention(P<0.05),and the decreases were more prevalent in the study group com-pared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The intervention of Qigong exercise combined with TCM foot bath can ef-fectively improve the foot condition and nerve conduction velocity in patients with highrisk diabetes foot, which can increase blood flow of the dorsalis pedis artery, and reduce plasma viscosity, platelet aggregation rate and serum inflammatory factor levels, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
