Observation of acupoint application and peritoneal perfusion in treating malignant ascites in the elderly with middle and advanced liver cancer
Objective To explore the clinical effect of acupoint application with self-planned Sanshui Formula com-bined with peritoneal perfusion treatment of elemene injection in treating ascites in the elderly with middle and advanced liver cancer. Methods A total of 140 middle and advanced liver cancer elderly patients with liver ascites from January 2019 to De-cember 2022 were enrolled as study subjects. The patients were randomly assigned to the control group(n=70)or the treatment group(n=70).All patients were given conventional peritoneal perfusion treatment(elemene injection),and those in the treat-ment group were additionally given acupoint application with self-planned Sanshui Formula.A two-course of treatment was performed(every 3 weeks for 1 course),aiming to compare traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score, ascites level, liver function, coagulation index, and adverse reactions between groups before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate in treatment group was significantly higher than that in control group(81.5%vs61.4%,P<0.05).After treatment, the TCM symptom scores(abdominal distension, abdominal bruises, fatigue, chest tightness, poor appetite, and dark complexion)in the both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the decrease in the treatment group was more pro-nounced relative to the control group(P<0.05).The alpha-fetoprotein(AFP),coagulation function, and liver function in the treatment group were significantly improved compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion For middle and advanced liver cancer elderly patients with liver ascites, peritoneal perfusion treatment of elemene injection combined with acupoint applica-tion has a definite therapeutic effect, which can effectively improve clinical symptoms, liver function and coagulation function, improve treatment efficacy, and does not increase adverse drug reactions. It is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
