Intervention effect of thunder-fire moxibustion for fatigue in patients with end-stage renal disease underwent maintenance hemodialysis
Objective To study the intervention effect of thunder-fire moxibustion for fatigue in patients with end-stage renal disease(ESRD)underwent maintenance hemodialysis(MHD).Methods Ninety patients with ESRD underwent MHD in Nantong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to January 2023 were randomly assigned into study group(n=45)and control group(n=45).All patients were managed by routine intervention, and those in study group were additionally given thunder-fire moxibustion.A 1-month intervention was performed to compare traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom score,Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-20(MFI-20)score,Tilburg Frailty Indicator scale(TFI),C-reactive protein(CRP),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)score. Results After intervention, the scores of TCM symptom,MFI-20,TFI,PSQI,as well as the levels of CRP in both groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),which were significantly decreased in the study group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The thunder-fire moxibustion based on the theory of Tonifying qi and kidney nourishing blood can effectively improve TCM symptoms,fatigue,weakness,micro-inflammation status and sleep quality in patients with ESRD underwent MHD.
