Effect of emotional nursing of traditional Chinese medicine combined with PERMA intervention mode on mental status and quality of life in young patients with bladder cancer
Objective To explore the effect of emotional nursing of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)combined with PERMA(positive emotion,engagement,relationships,meaning,and accomplishment)intervention mode on mental status and quality of life in young patients with bladder cancer(BC).Methods A total of 62 young patients with BC treated in the Department of Urology,Beijing Jishuitan Hospital,Capital Medical University from May 2021 to May 2022 were enrolled,and they randomly assigned into observation group(n=31)and control group(n=31).All patients were managed by routine intervention,and those in observation group were additionally given emotional nursing of TCM combined with PERMA intervention mode.Both groups were intervened for 8 weeks,once a week.The 36-item short-form health survey questionnaire(SF-36),Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS),Self-management Behavior Scale,Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ)scores were included as comparators.Results After intervention,SF-36 scores(mental function,physical function,material function,life function)and Self-management Behavior Scale scores in groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),which increased notably in the observation group compared with the control group(P<0.05).SAS and SDS scores in groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05),the decrease in the observation group was more prevalent compared with the control group(P<0.05).After intervention,significantly increased facing scores and decreased avoidance and yielding scores of MCMQ were found in groups(all P<0.05),which were significantly pronounced in observation group(all P<0.05).Conclusion Emotional nursing of TCM combined with PERMA intervention mode can improve mental state,establish a positive attitude for disease and treatment,and improve the quality of life in young patients with BC.
