Effect of wheat grain moxibustion combined with acupuncture treatment on sleep quality and anxiety & depression in perimenopausal insomnia women
Objective To analyze the effect of wheat grain moxibustion combined with acupuncture treatment on sleep quality and anxiety & depression in perimenopausal insomnia women. Methods One hundred perimenopausal insomnia patients were selected and assigned into control group(n=40)and treatment group(n=60)by computer random method. All patients received acupuncture treatment, and those in the treatment group additionally received wheat grain moxibustion for two weeks. The aim was to compare inter-group Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)scores before and after treatment. The inter-group clinical efficacy, adverse reactions and the Short Form-36(SF-36)scores were evaluated after treatment. Results The total effective rate in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(93.33%[56/60]vs 80.00%[32/40],P<0.05).The PSQI scores including dimension scores(sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances and daytime dysfunction)and total score in the two groups after treatment were significantly decreased(P<0.05),and which in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, significantly decreased HADS scores and increased SF-36 scores in the two groups were detected(both P<0.05),and the improvements in the treatment group were more pronounced in the control group(both P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between groups, and without serious adverse reactions(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of wheat grain moxibustion with acupuncture for perimenopausal insomnia can better improve patients'sleep quality, negative emotions, and the quality of life relative to the conventional acupuncture treatment.
