The effect of Diyu Shengbai Capsules on bone marrow suppression in patients with colorectal cancer treated with capecitabine and oxaliplatin chemotherapy
Objective To observe the effect of Diyu Shengbai Capsules on bone marrow suppression in patients with colorectal cancer treated with capecitabine and oxaliplatin.Methods Eighty patients with colorectal cancer were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,40 cases each.Control group was treated with capecitabine and oxaliplatin chemotherapy,while treatment group was treated with oral Diyu Shengbai Capsules on the basis of control group.Abnormal ratios of white blood cells,neutrophils,platelets,and hemoglobin,peripheral blood levels(white blood cells,neutrophils,platelets,and hemoglobin counts),the application rate of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF),liver and kidney function indexes[blood urea nitrogen(BUN),serum creatinine(CREA),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT)]and Karnofsky functional status(KPS)scores in the two groups before and after treatment were compared.Results After treatment,the proportion of abnormal white blood cell and neutrophil counts in treatment group was lower than control group(P＜0.05);there was no significant difference in the proportion of abnormal hemoglobin count(P＞0.05);the myelosuppressive index of both groups was lower than that before treatment,the bone marrow suppression index of treatment group was higher than that of control group(P＜0.05);the application rate of G-CSF in treatment group was lower than that of control group(P＜0.05);the liver and kidney function indexes of both groups were higher than those before treatment,and were lower in treatment group than control group(P＜0.05);the KPS score of both groups was higher than that before treatment,and was higher in treatment group than control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Diyu Shengbai Capsules can effectively prevent bone marrow suppression,reduce the application of G-CSF,protect liver and kidney function and immune function,and improve health status in patients with colorectal cancer treated with capecitabine and oxaliplatin chemotherapy.
