Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of TCM combined with abdominal acupuncture in treatment of elderly patients with sleep disorders(PSSD)after stroke. Methods A total of 200 elderly patients with PSSD were randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 100 cases in each group.Control group was treated with dexzopiclone, while treatment group was treated with TCM combined with abdominal acupuncture on the basis of control group. The total effective rate,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PQSI),Insomnia Severity Index(ISI),Clinical Dementia Rating Scale(CDR)scores, sleep time, wake time, number of awakenings,Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD)and Hamilton Anxiety Inventory(HAMA)scores were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group was higher than control group(P<0.05),PSQI,ISI and CDR scores in both groups were lower than before treatment, and were lower in treatment group than control group(P<0.05);the sleep time in both groups was longer than that before treatment, and was longer in treatment group than control group, the awakening time was shorter and the number of awakenings in both was groups were lower than those before treatment, and were lower in treatment group than control group(P<0.05);HAMD,HAMA scores in both groups were lower than before treatment, and were lower in treatment group than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion TCM combined with abdominal acupuncture has significant clinical efficacy in treatment of elderly patients with PSSD,which can improve sleep quality, alleviate insomnia and dementia, and improve depression and anxiety.
