Clinical observation of moxibustion Ashi acupoint and three-step analgesic method on cancer pain
Objective To observe the clinical effectiveness of moxibustion at Ashi acupoint for cancer pain and its impact on the quality of life of cancer patients. Methods Sixty patients with cancerous pain were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 30 cases in each group.Control group was treated with three tiered oral analgesics, while treatment group was treated with moxibustion on Ashi acupoint on the basis of control group. The clinical efficacy, improvement in pain relief time, the number of 24 h pain outbreaks,interleukin-6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)levels,Quality of Life Scale(QOL)score, and the incidence of adverse events were observed and compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the total pain relief rate in treatment group was significantly higher than control group(P<0.05);the relief time and frequency of 24 h pain outbreaks in treatment group were lower than control group, and the QOL score was higher than control group(P<0.05);TNF-α and IL-6 levels in both groups were lower than before treatment, which were lower in treatment group than control group(P<0.05);there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse events such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, and constipation between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of moxibu-stion at Ashi acupoint and three-step analgesic drugs can prolong the pain relief time, reduce the frequency of 24 h pain outbreaks, improve the pain relief efficacy, and improve the quality of life of patients with cancer pain.
