Study on the efficacy of warm acupuncture combined with methylcobalamin in treatment of peripheral facial paralysis
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of warm acupuncture combined with methylcobalamin in treatment of peripheral facial paralysis(PFP).Methods Eighty PFP patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 40 cases in each group.Control group was treated with intramuscular methylcobalamin, while treatment group was treated with warm acupuncture on the basis of control group. The total clinical effective rate, immunoglobulin M(IgM),im-munoglobulin(IgG),immunoglobulin A(IgA),M wave latencies,M wave amplitude, potential amplitude,TCM symptom score, and clinical facial evaluation scale(FACE)were compared between the two groups and the recurrence rate was recorded at 3 months of follow-up.Results After treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group was higher than that group(P<0.05);the scores of IgM,IgG,IgA,frontalis motor unit M wave latency and TCM symptoms in both groups were lower than those before treatment, which were lower in treatment group than control group(P<0.05);the scores of M wave amplitude, potential amplitude and FACE scale in both groups were higher than those before treatment, which were higher in treatment group than control group(P<0.05).After 3 months of follow-up,the recurrence rate of treatment group was lower than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Warm acupuncture combined with methylcobalamin can significantly adjust the immune function of patients, improve the frontal muscle electromyoelectric activity and TCM symptoms in treatment of PFP,reduce the recurrence rate, and improve the curative effect.
