Efficacy evaluation of tongue acupuncture on moderate post-stroke dysarthria
Objective To observe the clinical effectiveness of tongue acupuncture in treatment of moderate articulation disorders after stroke. Methods 83 patients with moderate articulation disorders after stroke were randomly divided into observation group(42 cases)and control group(41 cases).Control group was treated with sham acupuncture on the tongue combined with basic treatment and Xingnao Kaiqiao Acupuncture, and treatment group was treated with tongue acupuncture combined with basic treatment and Xingnao Kaiqiao Acupuncture. The clinical efficacy,Dysarthria Scale(Frenchay),National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),and daily living ability(Barthel)scores were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the effective rate and cure rate of observation group were higher than that of control group(P<0.05);the Frenchay and NHISS scores of both groups were lower than before treatment(P<0.05),and were lower in observation group than control group(P<0.05);the Barthel Indexes of both groups were higher than that before treatment(P<0.05),but the difference was not significant when comparing between the two groups(P>0.05);the scores of reflexes, lip, soft palate, larynx, tongue movement and speech function in Frenchay Scale were lower than those before treatment in both groups(P<0.05),and were lower in observation group than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Tongue acupuncture combined with Xingnao Kaiqiao Acupuncture can effectively improve clinical symptoms, neurological function and self-care ability, and improve the efficacy of treatment.
