Clinical observation on Jiegu Qili Pills combined with kyphoplasty in treatment of osteoporotic burst fracture
Objective To observe the efficacy of Jiegu Qili Pills combined with kyphoplasty(PKP)in treatment of os-teoporotic burst fracture(OPBF).Methods 71 cases of OPBF patients were randomly divided into treatment group(36 cases)and control group(35 cases).Control group was treated with PKP,while treatment group was treated with Jiegu Qili Pills on the basis of control group.The clinical efficacy and Lane-Sandhu X-ray scores,bone mineral density(BMD)value,N-terminal propeptide(P1NP)and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)content of type Ⅰ procollagen,the main and secondary syndromes,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)and Oswestry Dysfunction Index(ODI)scores,the anterior and central heights of the injured vertebrae,kyphotic Cobb angle,spinal canal mass,and healing time in the two groups were compared.Results The total apparent efficiency of treatment group in 12 months after surgery was higher than that in control group(P<0.05);the Lane-Sandhu X-ray score and BMD in treatment group at 3 months,6 months and 12 months after surgery were higher than those in control group(P<0.05);the P1NP and ALP contents in both groups were lower than those before operation in 3 months after operation,and were lower in treatment group than control group(P<0.05);the VAS,ODI scores,anterior and central height of the injured vertebrae,kyphotic Cobb angle and spinal canal occupancy rate were lower in both groups at 3 months after operation than before operation,and were lower in treatment group than control group(P<0.05);there was no significant difference in the height of the anterior edge of the injured vertebrae,the height of the central vertebra,and the mass of the spinal canal between the two groups(P>0.05),and the healing time in treatment group was shorter than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Jiegu Qili Pills combined with PKP is an effective method for the treatment of OPBF,which significantly shortens the fracture healing time,improves pain and functional impairment,increases BMD,decreases TCM syndrome scores,and decreases bone metabolism level,and has no effect on the stability of the injured spine.
