Clinical observation on Sanhuang Decoction combined with metformin in treatment of obesity type 2 diabetes
Objective To observe the efficacy of Sanhuang Decoction and metformin in treatment of obesity type 2 diabetes mellitus(OT2DM).Methods A total of 140 OT2DM patients were randomly divided into control group and treatment group,with 70 cases in each group.Control group was treated with metformin,and treatment group was treated with metformin combined with Sanhuang Decoction.The clinical efficacy,TCM symptom scores,fasting blood glucose(FPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR),2 h postprandial blood glucose(2 hPG),total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),body mass index(BMI),hypersensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)and interleukin-6(IL-6)levels were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the total effective rate of Western medicine and TCM in treatment group was higher than that in control group(P＜0.05),and the symptom scores related to phlegm-dampness and heat syndrome,blood glucose indexes(FPG,HbA1c,HOMA-IR,2 hPG),blood lipid indexes(TC,TG),BMI,and hs-CRP and IL-6 contents in both groups were lower than those before treatment,and were lower in treatment group than control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Sanhuang Decoction combined with metformin is effective in treatment of OT2DM,which can significantly improve the TCM syndrome,lower blood sugar and blood lipids,down-regulate the level of inflammation,and reduce BMI.
