Effect of Wubi Shanyao Wan Decoction combined with tamsulosin on urinary catheter removal in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and acute urinary retention
Objective To observe the efficacy of Wubi Shanyao Wan Decoction combined with tamsulosin on urinary catheter removal in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia complicated with acute urinary retention(BPH combined with AUR).Methods Sixty patients with BPH and AUR were randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 30 cases in each group.Control group took tamsulosin orally,and observation group took Wubi Shanyao Wan Decoction on the basis of control group.The total effective rate,extubation voiding time,indwelling catheter time,extubation success rate,International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),prostate volume,prostate-specific antigen(PSA),individual TCM pattern scores and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared.Results After treatment,the total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(P＜0.05);the extubation time and catheter time in observation group were shorter than those in control group,and the success rate of extubation in observation group was higher than that in control group(P＜0.05);the IPSS score,prostate volume and PSA levels in both groups were lower than those before treatment,and were lower in observation group than control group(P＜0.05);the scores of individual TCM in both groups were lower than those before treatment,and were lower in observation group than control group(P＜0.05);there was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Wubi Shanyao Wan Decoction combined with tamsulosin can improve the success rate of urinary catheter removal,alleviate prostate symptoms,reduce prostate volume,improve TCM syndrome in treatment of BPH combined with AUR,and has good safety.
