Clinical observation on self-made Yangxue Tongluo Decoction combined with acupuncture at eight confluent acupoints in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of self-made Yangxue Tongluo Decoction combined with acupuncture at eight confluent acupoints in treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)and its influence on nerve conduction velocity.Methods Ninety DPN patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group,with 45 cases in each group.Control group was given conventional treatments such as conventional glucose reduction,nutritional nerve and mecobalamin tablets,and observation group was given self-made Yangxue Tongluo Decoction on the basis of control group.The clinical efficacy,TCM symptom scores,Toronto Clinical Scoring System score(TCSS),vibration perception threshold[bilateral lower limb vibration perception threshold test score(VPT)],nerve conduction velocity[motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV)and sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV)of median nerve and common peroneal nerve]and hemorheological indicators[whole blood high-shear viscosity,whole blood low-shear viscosity,plasma viscosity,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)],and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of treatment in observation group was higher than that in control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the TCM scores,TCSS score,left and right VPT,whole blood high-shear viscosity,whole blood low-shear viscosity,plasma viscosity and ESR were decreased in both groups(P＜0.05),and were lower in observation group than control group(P＜0.05);the MNCV and SNCV of median nerve and common peroneal nerve in both groups were risen(P＜0.05),and were higher in observation group than control group(P＜0.05);there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Self-made Yangxue Tongluo Decoction combined with acupuncture at eight confluent acupoints has an exact efficacy in the treatment of DPN.It can relieve the severity of symptoms,enhance the lower limb vibration perception threshold and nerve conduction velocity,and reduce the blood viscosity with good safety.
