Clinical observation on Buyang Huanwu Decoction in treatment of residual symptoms after degenerative spine surgery
Objective To observe the effect of Buyang Huanwu Decoction in treatment of residual symptoms after de-generative spine surgery.Methods Eighty patients with residual symptoms after degenerative spine surgery were randomly divided into control group and observation group with 40 cases in each group.Control group was treated with conventional treatment,and observation group was treated with Buyang Huanwu Decoction on the basis of control group.The excellent rates of the two groups were compared after treatment;the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),Japanese Orthopaedic Association score(JOA),Oswestry Dysfunction Index(ODI),American Society of Spinal Cord Injury(ASIA)sensory,and motor,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-1 β(IL-1 β)levels,straight leg raise test(LG)angle,overall range of motion(ROM)of the lumbar spine,activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT)and prothrombin time(PT)of the two groups were compared before and after treatment.Results After treatment,the excellent rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(P<0.05);VAS and ODI scores in both groups were lower than those before treatment,while the sensory and motor scores of JOA and ASIA were higher,and the above indicators in observation group were superior to those in control group(P<0.05);the levels of TNF-α and IL-1 β in both groups were lower than those before treatment,and were lower in observation group than those in control group(P<0.05);LG and ROM in both groups were higher than those before treatment,and were higher in observation group than those in control group(P<0.05);APTT and PT of both groups were lower than those before treatment,and were higher in observation group than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Buyang Huanwu Decoction has a good effect in treatment of residual symptoms after degenerative spine surgery,reducing pain,improving function,improving sensory and motor function,reducing inflammatory indicators,expanding joint mobility,and improving blood hypercoagulability.
