Effect of acupuncture and massage combined with ibuprofen capsules on pain and cervical spine activity in patients with cervical shoulder myofascial pain syndrome
Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture and massage combined with ibuprofen capsules on pain and cervical spine activity in patients with cervical shoulder myofascial pain syndrome(CSMPS).Methods A total of 100 patients with CSMPS were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 50 cases in each group.Control group was treated with ibuprofen capsules, while observation group was treated with acupuncture and massage on the basis of control group. The efficacy of the two groups was compared, and the levels of cervical and shoulder pain, cervical shoulder tenderness, upper limb radiating pain Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score, cervical joint mobility(CROM),cervical spine dysfunction index scale(NDI),Quality of Life Scale(SF-36)score,serum β-endorphins(β-EP),serotonin(5-HT),interleukin-6(IL-6),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)were compared. Results After treatment, the total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(P<0.05);the VAS scores of neck pain, neck tenderness and radiating pain in the upper limbs in both groups were lower than those before treatmen, which were lower in observation group than control group(P<0.05);CROM score in both groups was higher than that before treatment, while the NDI score was lower, and the above indicators were superior in observation group to those in control group(P<0.05);SF-36 scores in both groups were higher than those before treatment, which were higher in observation group than control group(P<0.05);B-EP levels in both groups were higher than those before treatment, while 5-HT,IL-6 and TNF-α were lower, and the above indicators were superior in observation group to those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture and massage combined with ibuprofen capsule has significant efficacy in patients with CSMPS,which can significantly relieve pain, improve cervical spine mobility, improve the quality of life of patients, and regulate the level of related factors.
