A randomized controlled study of warm acupuncture combined with levofloxacin in treatment of chronic prostatitis
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of warm acupuncture combined with levofloxacin in treatment of chronic prostatitis(CP).Methods A total of 64 cases of CP patients were randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 32 cases in each group.Control group was treated with oral levofloxacin,while observation group was treated with warm acupuncture on the basis of control group.The clinical efficacy,the United States National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Integral Index(NIH-CPSI)single score,International Erectile Function Index Questionnaire-5(IIEF-5),prostate volume TCM syndrome single score,prostatic fluid index[white blood cell count(WBC),lecithin body count(SPL),pH value],maximum,urinary flow rate(MFR)and mean uroflow rate(AFR)of the two groups were compared.Results After treatment,the total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(P＜0.05);the NIH-CPSI score in both groups was lower than that before treatment,which was lower in observation group than control group(P＜0.05);the IIEF-5 score and prostate volume in observation group were higher than those before treatment,which was higher in observation group than control group(P＜0.05);the individual scores of TCM syndromes in both groups were lower than those before treatment,which were lower in observation group than control group(P＜0.05);the WBC and pH in both groups were lower than those before treatment,while the SPL was higher,and the above indicators were superior in observation group to those in control group(P＜0.05);the MFR and AFR of both groups were higher than those before treatment,which were higher in observation group than control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Warm acupuncture combined with levofloxacin has good efficacy in treatment of CP,which can relieve the symptoms of prostatitis,improve prostate function,reduce prostate volume,inhibit prostate inflammation,and improve urodynamics.
