Study on Properties of Polypropylene Powder Materials for 3D Printing
Selective laser sintering(SLS)is a kind of laser additive manufacturing technology based on powder bed.It can form parts with complex structure without fixture and mold. The parts have high degree of free design and are suitable for customized small batch production, with low cost of new product development and short manufacturing cycle.Polymer materials are the earliest and most widely used laser sintering forming materials, which have the advantages of low surface energy, high melting index, low sintering temperature and small laser power required. In this experiment, polypropylene polymer was used as the original powder.Through the optimization of antioxidant performance,a more suitable formula was screened out and applied to selective laser sintering, and then compared with commercially available products. The results show that the powder can successfully print standard test spline compared with the commercially available polypropylene powder for selective laser sintering 3D printing. The comparison analysis of particle size distribution,SEM,DSC,TG and mechanical properties shows that the powder has lower shrinkage, better formability, better thermal stability and higher rigidity.
