Study on the Influence of Wet Substrate Coating on the Corrosion Resistance of Universal Coating System for Offshore Platforms
The manufacturing sites of Offshore Oil Engineering Co.,Ltd.are located in Tianjin,Qingdao and Zhuhai, among which the Qingdao site often experiences extreme weather conditions with relative humidity exceeding 85%in summer, which is detrimental to painting. In this environment, the moisture on the surface of the substrate greatly affects the construction efficiency and delivery schedule. This article compares the anti-corrosion performance of three coating systems, including epoxy zinc-rich+epoxy micaceous iron+polyurethane, epoxy aluminum powder paint system, and epoxy glass flake system,on wet substrates and substrates after Sa2.5 rust removal.Through tests such as adhesion of films, salt spray resistance, and condensation tests of the anti-corrosion system,it is concluded that, under the condition of no defects in the appearance of the coating film, coating the surface of the wet substrate has a detrimental effect on the anti-corrosion performance of the three coating systems, but it can still meet the anti-corrosion requirements of the supporting coating system.
