Preparation of Sulfhydrated Porous Silica and Its Adsorption Property for Methylene Blue
Porous silica was prepared by sol-gel method using ammonia as catalyst, tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS)as precursor and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB)as pore agent. Then the porous silica was modified with y-mercaptopropyl trimethoxy silane(KH590).The porous silica before and after modification was characterized, and the adsorption properties of methylene blue were tested. The results showed that the prepared porous silica possessed good dispersion and had a particle size of 40~80 nm with pore size of 2.25~4.39 nm and specific surface area of 379.4 m2/g.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis indicated that the KH590 had successfully modified onto the surface of the porous silica, and the modified porous silica showed improved hydrophobic property.Compared with the unmodified porous silica, the modified porous silica with KH590 can adsorb the methylene blue more effectively.
