Experimental Study on Graphene/Rubber Composite Modified Asphalt and the Road Performance of Mixtures
To investigate the influence of graphene on the performance of rubber asphalt and its mixtures, rubber asphalt and SBS-modified asphalt were chosen as the control references.Initially, the storage stability and rheological properties at high and low temperatures of graphene-rubber composite modified asphalt were examined through segregation test, dynamic shear rheometry, and bending beam rheology tests.Subsequently, the pavement performance of the rubber asphalt mixture influenced by graphene was assessed utilizing various indoor testing systems. The findings indicate that the incorporation of graphene enhances the storage stability,high-temperature rutting resistance, and resistance to permanent deformation of rubber asphalt, while simultaneously decreasing the low-temperature stress relaxation capacity of the asphalt.Graphene significantly improves the high-temperature stability and resistance to water damage of the rubber asphalt mixture, yet it diminishes the mixture's crack resistance under low-temperature conditions. An excessive amount of graphene tends to form aggregates, which adversely affects the performance of the asphalt. It is recommended that the content of graphene be adjusted to approximately 0.06%.
