As an ideal alternative to traditional precious metal catalysts, iron has the advantages of wide sources, low toxicity, and good environmental compatibility, and is currently used in various en-vironmentally friendly catalytic processes. In recent years,N-heterocyclic carbene(NHC)has been widely used as a ligand not only in the catalysis of precious metals(such as palladium,nickel,rhodi-um,etc.)but also in iron catalysis due to its unique spatial and electronic properties. This article re-views the characteristics of NHC-Fe catalysts and focuses on the research progress in carbon-carbon coupling reactions catalyzed by NHC-Fe complexes in the past decade, including aryl-aryl cross-cou-pling,aryl-alkyl cross-coupling,alkyl-alkyl cross-coupling,and others.
