Photocatalyzed Thia-Baeyer-Villiger Oxidative Rearrangement of Dibenzothiophene
Dibenzothiophene(DBT)is the most stubborn component in the process of deep desulfuriza-tion of oil,and with the promotion of sustainable development, there is an urgent need for an economi-cal and green method to realize the desulfurization process of DBT.A light catalyzed Thia-Baeyer-Vil-liger oxidative rearrangement reaction of DBT was developed using metalloporphyrin complex as a cata-lyst and green and inexpensive H2O2 as an oxidant. The DBT was smoothly converted to dibenzo[c,e][1,2]oxathiine 6-oxide(BPS)in 83.6%yield.The formed BPS was heated under alkaline conditions to remove SO2 to form 2-hydroxybiphenyl(2-HBP)in 68%yield,which successfully simulates the bio-catalytic desulfurization process.
