Synthesis and performance characterization of PCDL-PBT thermoplastic elastomer
Polycarbonate Diol(PCDL)was used as the soft segment and terephthalic acid(PTA)and 1,4-bu-tanediol(BDO)copolymer as the hard segment to create a series of PCDL-PBT thermoplastic elastomers.Infrared spec-troscopy was used to characterize its chemical structure, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis were used to investigate its thermal properties.Tests were conducted on its flow characteristics, dynamic thermomechani-cal properties, and mechanical properties. The outcomes demonstrate the good thermal stability performance of the syn-thetic polycarbonate type elastomer.PCDL's glass transition temperature and melting point progressively drop as its mass fraction in the copolymer rises. The copolymer's fracture strength exhibits a declining trend, while the fracture elonga-tion displays a trend of initial increase followed by decrease. The loss tangent value increased from 0.157 to 0.284 as the copolymer's storage modulus decreased and the loss factor increased as it moved towards lower temperatures.
