Effect of phosphate on esterification of polybutylene terephthalate
In order to examine the impact of phosphate on esterification and the generation of tetrahydrofu-ran during PBT polymerization,1,4-butanediol(BD)and terephthalic acid(PTA)were combined to create poly-butylene terephthalate(PBT).Disodium hydrogen phosphate and sodium phosphate were introduced as addi-tives during the polymerization process, respectively. We looked into how the two additives'types and amounts af-fected the esterification reaction. In order to quantify the amount of tetrahydrofuran(THF)produced during the es-terification process and the degree of esterification reaction, the yield of the esterified water was weighed throughout the polymerization process, and the esterified water's refractive index was calculated. To assess the variations in THF produced during PBT manufacture, the mass content of THF in the esterified water was measured using a moisture meter and a gas chromatograph. The findings demonstrated that the additions sodium phosphate and disodium hydrogen phosphate may lower the amount of THF produced during the esterification process within the experimental range.THF production was 11%and 9%,respectively.
