Determination of Insolubles in Lubricating Oils by Membrane Filtration
In order to solve the problems of large sample and solvent consumption, long analysis time and high detection limit in the current method(GB/T8926-2012 method)for the determination of insolubles in lubricating oils, the feasibility of membrane filtration method for the determination of insolubles in lubricating oils(n-pentane-insoluble and xylene-insoluble)was investigated.Based on the selection of filter membrane, solvent and sample volume, the pore size of the filter membrane was 0.8 μm,the solvent was toluene-ethanol,and the sample volumes were 1.0 g(n-pentane-insoluble)and 0.2 g~1.0 g(xylene-insoluble)respectively.The membrane filtration method has a good reproducibility with the relative standard deviation(RSD)less than 7.0% and the low detection limit was 0.04%.Compared with the GB/T8926-2012 method, the membrane filtration method has the advantages of less sample and solvent consumption, shorter analysis time and lower detection limit, which meets the requirements of today's green rapid analysis.(Charts3 Tables7 References3)
