This article reviews the recent progress of atomic force microscopy-based infrared spectroscopy(AFM-IR)in polymer science,material science and other fields,focusing on the advantages of AFM-IR in characterizing different samples.The application of AFM-IR overcomes the disadvantages of traditional characterization techniques,it can obtain chemical composition information of samples at the nano-scale.Due to this core advantage,characterization accuracy,and nondestructive testing,this technology has been widely used in polymers,composite materials and membrane materials,offering great help for improving performance of various materials and research on structure activity relation ship.
