Influence of coagulant composition on appearance characteristics of G-ABS high glue powder and ABS
The composition of coagulants not only changes the particle size of grafted acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer(G-ABS)high glue powder but also affects the whiteness and color stability of acrylonitrile-bufadiene-styrene terpolymer(ABS)in the process of recovering G-ABS high glue powder from G-ABS latex with coagulants.Mixed coagulants composed of glacial acetic acid/magnesium sulfate, sulfuric acid/magnesium sulfate were used to compare the effects of the two coagulants on the powder and ABS appearance by adjusting the ratio of cations. The results show that reducing the proportion of H+in the coagulant does not significantly affect the particle size distribution and oxidation induction time of the powder when ensuring the acidity of the condensed slurry. The whiteness, thermal oxidative aging color stability, and particle storage color stability of ABS are all improved. The use of glacial acetic acid can significantly improve the whiteness and thermal oxidative aging color stability of ABS compared with sulfuric acid.
