Comparison of properties of polyethylene used for XLPE insulation materials at home and abroad
The differences of three kinds of cross-linked polyethylene insulation materials at home and abroad in basic physical properties and structural properties were studied. The results show that the imported material has higher melt flow rate, better tensile properties, higher weight average molecular weight, narrower relative molecular weight distribution, lower branching degree and melt strength, and higher terminal double bond content, but its total double bond content is close to that of the domestic material. The domestic materials have higher melting temperature and lower crystallization temperature than those of imported resin. There are some differences in crosslinking properties between the two domestic materials. One domestic material has the largest equilibrium torque and short crosslinking time, which is estimated to be related to its high branching degree and more sufficient entanglement after crosslinking.
